it could possibly have been five minutes or three months. its not clear yet.
i, sara, left my home of the last 22 years on wednesday, september 24th, around 2 pm.
after picking up grandma in fair verona, new jersey, we spent over an hour trying to purchase both a radar detector (uncle bobby says we simply must have one) and the right cord to connect my cute little video camera to my computer (the correct connecting cables and accessories were thrown away, it seems, with the box...). can you imagine? comparisons and pricings and opening packages and two stores and finally we get on the road with the detector (whose instructions we have yet to read but that does make some beeps when we remember to plug it in...) and no way to get our video on this site...
3.5 hours later we arrive at the most joyous shrieks of welcome and the most inviting embraces of love by elaine marie carberry in her stunning baltimore two-story spiral staircase home. the high-ceilinged first floor is painted in the most breathtaking velvet soft shade of brown that i can't stop dreaming of. and she is, with all certainty, even better at being the best person ever than ever before. its like her casting agent did a super job.
we quickly rearranged the car so elaine had two square feet of room in the back seat (she only requires 1.5 square feet, dont worry) and we followed the voice of our friend in the gps screen to our magnificent cousin's magnificent home in potomac, MD. cousin beth, husband ken and son eli are so fabulous we considered ending our journey right there. beth is a soon-to-be-discovered world-renknowned chef, ken is the first person i've met who can keep me focused on a single conversation topic at a time, and eli is, no joke, a prodigy musician and composer with a super cute 13-year old smile.
we couldn't be bigger fans of our relatives.
there are sooooooooooo many more things to say about the last three days but we'll have to get it later on.
with all our love,
ms. perl and gma
